Portable Rejects N50 Million Boxing Offer from Carter Efe, Demands Luxury Car to Step into the Ring
Controversial Nigerian singer Portable has turned down a ₦50 million offer to face popular streamer Carter Efe in a proposed celebrity boxing match, insisting that the prize money be increased substantially.
The offer was made by music executive Soso Soberekon during a recent livestream with Carter Efe, who immediately accepted and even encouraged Soberekon to finalize the date and venue. However, Portable, confident of his prowess in celebrity boxing, rejected the N50 million offer and demanded a luxury car worth ₦300 million be added, bringing the total prize to ₦350 million.
Portable reminded fans of his previous victories over Charles Okocha and Speed Darlington, insisting he would defeat Carter Efe just as convincingly if his conditions were met. “Soso, N50 million is too little. Give me N50 million plus a car worth N300 million, totaling N350 million and I will beat Carter Efe mercilessly. I am the same guy who beat Charles Okocha and Speed Darlington,” he stated.
As of now, Soso Soberekon has not responded to Portable’s demand.
Opinion: Celebrity Boxing—Entertainment or Escalating Ego?
This latest episode highlights the growing trend of celebrity boxing in Nigeria, where social media fame and entertainment collide with real-life competitive stakes. While these matches are exciting for fans and generate buzz online, the negotiations over prize money reflect how the spectacle often shifts from sport to ego-driven theatrics.
Portable’s demand for both cash and a luxury car may seem excessive, but it also underscores the high value influencers place on their brand and image. Celebrity boxing is no longer just about fun; it is a calculated business venture where stars leverage their public persona for maximum gain.
Ultimately, whether the match happens or not, this saga demonstrates that in the world of Nigerian entertainment, fans can expect as much drama outside the ring as inside it. It will be interesting to see if Soberekon meets Portable’s demands or if Carter Efe will have to fight for glory without the star opponent.
