Portable Claims Celebrity Boxing Victory Was “Scripted” Over ₦23 Billion Betting Controversy
Controversial Nigerian musician Portable has alleged that the outcome of his celebrity boxing match against streamer Carter Efe was manipulated by organisers to avoid paying out massive betting winnings.
The bout, held in Lagos on Friday under the branding “TalkTalk Nigeria Celebrity Boxing,” saw Carter Efe declared winner after judges scored the fight 30–27 in his favour. He also walked away with a ₦50 million cash prize.
However, following widespread social media reactions and mockery directed at Portable over his defeat, the singer took to Instagram on Sunday to make a series of explosive claims about the fight.
Portable alleged that organisers intentionally ensured Carter Efe’s victory due to betting implications, claiming that a large sum—reportedly ₦23 billion—was tied to predictions favouring him.
He also claimed he had already been paid ₦40 million upfront, plus ₦5 million for promotional posts, suggesting the fight carried both entertainment and financial arrangements beyond the ring.
“Carter Efe’s victory was intentional… na me be first musician wey bring boxing come Nigeria,” he said, insisting that most bettors backed him to win and that the result was unfairly influenced.
The singer further accused the referee of bias during the match, claiming he was disadvantaged throughout the bout. Portable has previously participated in celebrity fights, including victories over Speed Darlington and Charles Okocha in 2025.
