Carter Efe Challenges Wizkid to Celebrity Boxing Match After Portable Victory
Controversial Nigerian streamer Carter Efe has thrown down another celebrity boxing challenge—this time targeting Grammy-winning singer Wizkid.
Speaking during a recent livestream alongside Kcee and businessman E-Money, Carter Efe said that after defeating Portable in a celebrity boxing bout, he now wants to face Wizkid in the ring.
“The person I want to fight with now is Wizkid and I want his son, Boluwatife to be there too. Let him come and collect the championship from me if he is man enough,” Carter Efe said during the livestream.
The social media personality has maintained a long-running public grievance with Wizkid, accusing the singer of failing to support him after he released the tribute song Manchala years ago.
Despite the repeated remarks and criticisms from Carter Efe over time, Wizkid has largely remained silent and has yet to respond to the latest boxing challenge.
Opinion: Celebrity Boxing Is Becoming Nigeria’s New Entertainment Formula
The rise of celebrity boxing in Nigeria is quickly turning internet drama into mainstream entertainment.
What started as online banter between influencers and musicians is now evolving into a profitable spectacle involving cash prizes, sponsorships, livestreams, and massive social media attention. Carter Efe understands this perfectly.
By calling out Wizkid, he is not just chasing a fight—he is chasing visibility, headlines, and engagement.
And realistically, that’s why these challenges work.
However, there is also a thin line between entertainment and unnecessary provocation. Bringing Wizkid’s son into the conversation may generate reactions online, but many fans will likely see it as excessive and attention-seeking rather than playful promotion.
The bigger question is whether top-tier stars like Wizkid would ever participate in these events. Unlike creators and streamers who benefit directly from controversy-driven engagement, established global artists often avoid situations that could damage brand image or distract from their careers.
Still, one thing is undeniable: celebrity boxing has become one of the fastest-growing entertainment trends in Nigeria.
And whether people love it or criticize it, figures like Carter Efe and Portable have figured out how to turn online chaos into a business model.
