Eric Garcia Reacts to Reported Real Madrid Dressing Room Clash After Barcelona’s Title-Winning El Clasico Victory
Eric Garcia has admitted that reports of an alleged altercation between Aurelien Tchouameni and Federico Valverde came as a surprise to the FC Barcelona squad ahead of El Clasico.
In the build-up to the highly anticipated clash, Real Madrid CF were overshadowed by reports from Valdebebas claiming both midfielders were involved in a physical confrontation during training.
The situation reportedly became serious enough for the club to announce disciplinary proceedings, while Valverde was said to have suffered a head injury that ruled him out of the match.
Despite including Tchouameni in the starting lineup, Madrid fell to a 2-0 defeat at Camp Nou as goals from Marcus Rashford and Ferran Torres sealed another LaLiga title for Barcelona.
Speaking after the match, Garcia acknowledged that the reports caught the team’s attention but avoided adding fuel to the situation.
“Well, obviously, it came as a surprise to the whole team, but anyway, today we’ll enjoy the victory and let them get on with what they have to do,” he said, according to Barca Universal.
The victory secured Barcelona’s 29th LaLiga title and completed back-to-back league triumphs for the Catalan side.
Opinion: El Clasico Was Won Long Before Kick-Off
Football matches at this level are not decided by talent alone — mentality, unity, and dressing room atmosphere often play just as big a role.
The reported unrest inside Real Madrid CF before El Clasico created the kind of distraction no club wants heading into its biggest game of the season. Whether the confrontation directly affected performance or not, it inevitably shifted attention away from football preparation.
By contrast, FC Barcelona looked composed, focused, and emotionally connected on the night. Eric Garcia’s measured response also reflected a squad determined not to be distracted by external drama.
What stands out most is Barcelona’s growing maturity under pressure. Winning a title against Real Madrid in front of home fans is already special, but doing so while your rivals appear internally unsettled makes the moment even more symbolic.
In many ways, this El Clasico felt like more than just a match — it felt like a statement about which club currently has the stronger direction and stability.
