Wale Jana Sparks Conversation After Sharing Views on Sperm Quality and Pregnancy Experiences

Nigerian businessman Wale Jana has sparked conversations online after sharing his thoughts on the possible connection between sperm quality and a woman’s pregnancy experience.

In a post on his Instagram page, Jana said a discussion with a gynaecologist made him realise that male reproductive health plays an important role in pregnancy outcomes.

According to him, changes some women experience during pregnancy, including sickness, skin changes, and other difficulties, may be linked to the quality of sperm involved in conception. He also claimed that sperm health can influence the health of a child.

Jana advised men to pay more attention to their reproductive health, adding that couples should support each other during pregnancy rather than blaming women for the challenges they experience.

“If your wife is pregnant right now and she’s glowing, energetic, and just having a good time with her pregnancy, clap for yourself,” he wrote.

His comments have generated reactions, with some people agreeing that men should take more responsibility for reproductive health, while others have questioned some of the medical claims made in the post.

Opinion: Jana’s message brings attention to an important issue — the role of men in pregnancy and family health. For many years, pregnancy challenges have often been placed entirely on women, while male factors are sometimes ignored.

However, pregnancy is a complex biological process influenced by many factors, including genetics, hormones, nutrition, health conditions, and individual differences between women. The bigger conversation should be about both partners taking responsibility before and during pregnancy through proper medical care, healthy lifestyles, and emotional support.

Beyond the debate over his wording, the reminder that men should care about their reproductive health is a valuable one.
