Ekiti Queens Appoint Sabo Okala as New Head Coach Ahead of NWFL Campaign
Ekiti Queens FC have appointed Sabo Okala as their new head coach ahead of the 2026/27 Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) season, as the club begins preparations for a stronger campaign.
Okala takes over from Jacob Vandi, who has left the team to join Nigeria National League (NNL) side Ekiti United.
Vandi guided Ekiti Queens to a mid-table finish during the 2025/26 NWFL season, but the club’s management has now turned to Okala with the hope of achieving a higher target, including a possible qualification for the NWFL Super Six playoffs.
The appointment comes at a time when competition in Nigerian women’s football continues to grow, with clubs investing more in coaching and squad development. Okala’s immediate task will be to build a team capable of challenging the league’s top sides and ending the season among the elite contenders.
With Edo Queens emerging as the 2025/26 NWFL champions, Ekiti Queens will know that breaking into the Super Six race requires consistency, tactical discipline, and a squad ready to compete against the country’s strongest women’s teams.
Okala’s arrival could represent a fresh chapter for the club, but the pressure will be on him to quickly translate expectations into results when the new season begins.
