Transfer: Wolves Reject Fiorentina’s Bid for Tolu Arokodare as Striker Eyes Premier Return

Wolverhampton Wanderers have reportedly turned down an offer from Serie A side Fiorentina for Nigerian striker Tolu Arokodare as uncertainty continues to surround his future.

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the Premier League club have no intention of selling the forward below their valuation despite growing interest from Europe.

Romano also disclosed that Turkish Super Lig outfit Trabzonspor submitted a proposal for the 25-year-old, but the Nigerian international is not interested in making the move.

“Understand Fiorentina had a proposal turned down by Wolves for striker Tolu Arokodare. Trabzonspor also made a proposal but the player is not keen on the move,” Romano wrote on X.

Arokodare is reportedly valued at more than €20 million by Wolves, who signed him from Belgian side KRC Genk last summer on a four-year contract, with the option of an additional year, in a deal worth around £23.4 million.

Despite arriving with a strong reputation after impressing in Belgium, the striker endured a difficult debut campaign in England. He managed just three goals and one assist in 33 Premier League appearances as Wolves suffered relegation.

The club's drop to the Championship has fueled speculation that several first-team players could depart during the summer transfer window, with Arokodare among those attracting interest from clubs across Europe.

Although Fiorentina have seen their opening approach rejected, interest in the Nigerian forward is expected to remain strong as the transfer window progresses.

Opinion:

Wolves' decision to reject Fiorentina's initial offer suggests they still believe Arokodare's market value exceeds his output from last season. While his first year in England was challenging, he has previously demonstrated his scoring ability in Belgium and with the Super Eagles. A move to a club where his style is better suited could reignite his career, but Wolves are under no pressure to sell cheaply, especially for a player they invested heavily in only a year ago.
