Christopher Danjuma Hails Hard Work After Nasarawa Amazons Win Third Federation Cup Title
Nasarawa Amazons head coach Christopher Danjuma has credited hard work, determination and teamwork for his side's triumph in the 2026 Women's President Federation Cup.
The Amazons secured their third Federation Cup title after defeating Heartland Queens 6-5 on penalties in a dramatic final played at the Stephen Keshi Stadium in Asaba on Saturday.
The encounter ended 1-1 after regulation time before the Lafia-based club held their nerve during the penalty shootout to lift the prestigious trophy.
Speaking after the victory, Danjuma praised the commitment shown by everyone associated with the club, especially the players, who overcame the loss of several key squad members to deliver silverware.
"It has been hard work and dedication from the management, coaches, and most importantly, the real actors—the players," Danjuma told the club's media.
The experienced tactician revealed that the team had to rebuild after losing more than nine players to other clubs, but insisted the departures never distracted the squad from its objectives.
"Despite losing nine or more players to various clubs, we remained focused and determined. We thank God Almighty for this victory."
The victory adds another major trophy to Nasarawa Amazons' illustrious history and reinforces their status as one of the most successful clubs in Nigerian women's football.
Opinion:
Nasarawa Amazons' latest Federation Cup success is a testament to the importance of strong leadership and continuity in football. Losing a large number of experienced players would have derailed many teams, but Christopher Danjuma and his squad demonstrated resilience and a winning mentality. Their triumph should also serve as encouragement for clubs investing in player development, proving that rebuilding with commitment and discipline can still produce championship-winning teams.
