Falz Shares Marriage Advice, Says People Should Avoid Rushing Into Marriage Before 30
Nigerian rapper and entertainer Folarin Falana, popularly known as Falz, has shared his thoughts on marriage, advising young people not to rush into settling down before reaching the age of 30.
Speaking during an episode of The BTS Reality Podcast, the 35-year-old musician argued that many people have not achieved enough emotional, financial and mental maturity in their 20s to handle the responsibilities that come with marriage.
Falz urged singles not to allow societal expectations, family pressure or comparisons with others to influence their decisions about marriage.
According to him, the 20s should be a period of self-discovery, personal growth and gaining life experiences before making a lifelong commitment.
"Getting married in your 30s is the best. Don’t let anyone pressure you into getting married before 30. By 30s, you have gained more life experiences.
"In your 20s, you are still figuring yourself out. Your 20s are for learning, growing, and enjoying life.
"In your 30s, you combine all the knowledge and try to direct your life. So, it is better to wait till your 30s before getting married."
Falz's comments have sparked discussions online, with many agreeing that maturity and readiness are more important factors in marriage than age alone.
The rapper's perspective comes at a time when conversations around marriage timelines, financial stability and personal growth continue to dominate public discussions, especially among younger generations.
Opinion
Falz's advice highlights an important truth: marriage is not a race. While some people successfully build happy marriages in their 20s, others may benefit from taking more time to understand themselves, develop emotional maturity and establish financial stability before making such a major commitment.
The pressure to marry based on age, family expectations or social media comparisons can sometimes lead people into decisions they are not fully prepared for. However, readiness differs from person to person, and there is no universal timeline that guarantees a successful marriage.
The most important factor is not whether someone marries before or after 30, but whether they have the maturity, commitment and understanding required to build a healthy partnership. Falz's message ultimately encourages people to make personal decisions based on readiness rather than pressure.
