Chelsea defender Malo Gusto has emerged as a transfer target for French champions Paris Saint-Germain, with reports suggesting manager Luis Enrique has approved a move for the highly-rated full-back.

According to The Sun, PSG view the France international as the ideal player to provide competition and cover for Moroccan star Achraf Hakimi. However, Chelsea are reportedly unwilling to let Gusto leave cheaply, placing a £75 million valuation on the 23-year-old.

The report also claims the Blues may need to sanction player sales before the transfer window closes as they continue to manage their finances in line with Financial Fair Play (FFP) regulations following another significant spending spree.

Gusto has established himself as one of Chelsea's promising young defenders since arriving from Lyon, impressing with his pace, attacking intent and versatility on the right flank.

Should PSG decide to meet Chelsea's asking price, the deal would represent a substantial profit and provide the Premier League club with greater financial flexibility ahead of the new season.

Meanwhile, Manchester United have confirmed the departure of defender Gabby George from their Women's team.

The 28-year-old has completed a permanent move to Brighton & Hove Albion after spending three years at Old Trafford, where she made 54 appearances in all competitions, including 24 last season.

In a statement, Manchester United thanked George for her contribution to the club.

“Everyone at United would like to thank Gabby for her efforts over the last three years and wish her the very best of luck for the future,” the club said.

Both Chelsea and Manchester United continue to reshape their squads as preparations intensify for the 2026/27 campaign.

Selling Malo Gusto would be a difficult decision for Chelsea. While a reported £75 million fee would represent excellent business from a financial standpoint, replacing a young, proven full-back with Premier League experience is rarely straightforward.

If Financial Fair Play considerations are indeed influencing Chelsea's transfer strategy, the club must carefully weigh short-term financial gains against long-term squad stability. Gusto has shown he can become one of Europe's top right-backs, and losing him could leave a significant gap despite the sizeable transfer fee.

For PSG, however, the move makes perfect sense. Adding quality competition for Achraf Hakimi would strengthen their squad depth and ensure they remain competitive across multiple competitions throughout the season.
