The Nollywood actress Temitope Osoba was buried on Thursday 10 September at the cemetery in Iperu Remo, Ogun State. Family, friends and colleagues attended. Video from the ceremony circulated widely through the afternoon and into Friday.
The date had been confirmed after an earlier postponement. She died following breast cancer.
What the coverage did and did not carry
Five outlets ran the burial, most leading on footage of the remains leaving the morgue and the emotion at the graveside. That is a legitimate thing to report and it is what audiences click.

One industry, one week, three women, one disease category.
Nollywood is not unusually unlucky. It is unusually visible. The same pattern is running through every Nigerian community this week without anybody filming it, and the reason these three names are known is that they had public careers.
An actress gets a funeral report. The women who died of the same thing this week in Ogun State get nothing, and there were more of them.
Why the interval is the number
Breast cancer found early is among the most survivable cancers there is. Found late, it is not. The distance between those two outcomes is not mainly medical skill, it is time, and time in Nigeria is lost to the cost of imaging, the distance to a machine, the absence of any national programme that invites women for a check at a given age, and the months often spent elsewhere before a hospital is reached.
The useful thing to take from it
Not a tribute. That the lump you are waiting to see about is the one worth checking now, while checking is still cheap and while the answer is still likely to be a good one.
Her family asked for privacy around the arrangements, and the arrangements are now over.
