Nani Urges Manchester United to Make Bold January Move for Antoine Semenyo
Former Manchester United winger Nani has urged his old club to make a serious push for Bournemouth forward Antoine Semenyo ahead of the January transfer window. Speaking to Metro, the Portuguese star expressed strong confidence that the Ghanaian attacker would be a perfect addition to the Red Devils under manager Ruben Amorim.
“Why not?” Nani said when asked whether United should attempt to sign Semenyo. “That is the type of player the fans want to see. However, we know that when players come to Man United, this is totally different. They have to adapt. I hope, if we get Semenyo, he can come with his attitude, with this mentality, and he can put all of his talent on the field and help the team.”
Semenyo, who joined Bournemouth from Bristol City in 2023, has been one of the Cherries’ standout figures with his pace, power, and ability to carry the ball in transition. The 25-year-old had previously attracted interest from Manchester United and Tottenham before signing a new contract with Bournemouth.
Opinion: Why Semenyo Could Be the Risk Worth Taking for United
On the surface, Semenyo may not be the biggest name on the market, and that’s exactly why this could be an inspired move. United have chased superstars for years, yet the club’s best signings in modern times came from players who arrived hungry, not celebrated — the likes of Bruno Fernandes, Lisandro Martínez, and even Nani himself.
Semenyo brings something United desperately lack: raw directness. He presses with intensity, drives at defenders, and plays without fear — traits that fit perfectly with Amorim’s energetic, aggressive style. He may not solve every attacking problem instantly, but he represents a shift toward signing players who fit the system, not just the headlines.
If United want to rebuild with purpose rather than noise, Semenyo could be the kind of under-the-radar signing that surprises everyone — in the best way. And in a squad currently short on conviction, his mentality might be just as valuable as his talent.
