Amapakabo Hails Suraj Lawal After Match-Winning Strike for Abia Warriors

Amapakabo Hails Suraj Lawal After Match-Winning Strike for Abia Warriors

Abia Warriors technical adviser, Imama Amapakabo, has praised striker Suraj Lawal following his decisive performance in the club’s narrow 1–0 victory over Kun Khalifat FC.

Lawal scored the only goal of the encounter at the Dan Anyiam Stadium, Owerri, on Sunday, sealing all three points for the Umuahia-based side. The goal marked his second in as many games, underlining a growing confidence in front of goal.

Speaking to the club’s media, Amapakabo highlighted both the striker’s qualities and areas for further improvement, expressing optimism about his development.

“He has too much to give but I think his end point had always been his goal scoring,” Amapakabo said. “We are working on that with him because he does too much outside the box, he had too many goals to score with his ability.”

So far this season, Lawal has registered two goals for Abia Warriors.

A Striker Finding His Rhythm

Lawal’s recent form could not have come at a better time for Abia Warriors. In tightly contested matches, the ability to turn half-chances into winning goals often makes the difference—and Lawal is beginning to show that edge.

Amapakabo’s comments also reveal a deeper tactical vision. While Lawal’s work rate and involvement outside the box are valuable, refining his instincts in the penalty area could elevate him from a hardworking forward to a consistent goal threat.

If given regular game time and the right support, Lawal’s current momentum may just be the spark Abia Warriors need as the season unfolds. For the fans, it is a promising sign: a striker growing in confidence, learning his craft, and starting to deliver when it matters most.
