AFCON 2025: Ndidi Urges Nigerians to Keep Faith in Super Eagles After Tunisia Win

AFCON 2025: Ndidi Urges Nigerians to Keep Faith in Super Eagles After Tunisia Win

Super Eagles captain Wilfred Ndidi has called on Nigerians to continue backing the national team after they sealed qualification for the knockout stage of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.

Nigeria booked their place in the Round of 16 on Saturday night with a thrilling 3–2 victory over Tunisia in a high-tempo Group C encounter. Goals from Victor Osimhen, Ademola Lookman and skipper Ndidi himself proved enough to edge the Carthage Eagles in a match that underlined Nigeria’s attacking quality and fighting spirit.

Speaking in his post-match interview, the Besiktas midfielder urged fans at home to remain united behind the team and enjoy the journey as the Super Eagles push for continental glory.

“I will say just sit home and keep enjoying and keep supporting the team,” Ndidi said.
“The team is trying everything to make the country proud, and we will continue to try and make the country proud and happy New Year.”

Opinion: Ndidi’s message reflects a growing bond between this Super Eagles squad and the fans. Beyond the goals and results, there is a visible sense of responsibility and hunger within the team to restore national pride. While defensive lapses against Tunisia will raise questions, the character shown to secure qualification early is a positive sign.

As the tournament progresses, continued support from Nigerians could be the extra push this team needs. AFCON is rarely won by talent alone—it demands belief, unity and resilience. For now, the Super Eagles have given fans reasons to smile, dream and, as their captain rightly said, enjoy every moment of the journey.
