Controversial Nigerian singer, Portable, is once again in the news, this time for clashing with his third baby mama, Honey Berry, over their ongoing child custody dispute.

In a fiery Instagram post on Monday, Honey Berry accused Portable of making threats against her life and warned the public to hold the singer responsible if anything happens to her or their son, Akorede Badmus.

The bitter rift between the two began in January 2023, when Honey Berry accused Portable of neglecting their child. According to her, the singer has shown no genuine interest in being a father and only appears when it suits him.

Sharing a screenshot of Portable’s alleged threatening message, Honey Berry did not mince words:

“I consider this as threat. You stated that you want nothing to do with me and my son. If you do not want misfortune in your life, don’t ever threaten me again. Everyone, if anything happen to me, or my son, hold Portable a.k.a deadbeat father responsible.”

She also made it clear that she would not be intimidated by the singer’s words:

“If you go low, I will go lower. If you bring fire to my door, I will bring hell to yours. Even if you want a relationship with your son, you don’t pick or choose when you want to be a father. My son has nothing to learn from you. The evidence full ground.”

Portable’s message had insisted on her bringing their son to him, stating:

“Bring my son before I make life tire you. Hope you get a lawyer. I no see my son for two years now. I dey sent food money before, but as you no bring my son how you go collect money again. Bring my son before I say make them dey look for you.”

Portable has never shied away from controversy. But his approach to fatherhood seems to be further tarnishing his reputation. The erratic nature of his responses and apparent neglect of his child only add fuel to the fire.

At the core of this issue is a larger societal problem where some fathers feel entitled to pick and choose their level of involvement in their children’s lives. Honey Berry’s response highlights the frustration of countless single mothers left to raise their children without consistent support.

If Portable truly desires a relationship with his son, he must demonstrate commitment beyond threats and accusations. Fatherhood requires consistency, love, and responsibility—traits that are unfortunately missing from his current actions.
