Portable Responds to Ex-Wife’s Allegations, Demands Child Be Brought to Him

Controversial Nigerian singer Portable has reacted to allegations from his ex-wife, Fatimo Momoh, who accused him of abandoning her and their 10-year-old son, Mahbub.

Fatimo had earlier called out the singer, claiming he had failed to take responsibility for their child for the past eight years. In response, Portable took to his Instagram page on Monday, urging her to bring the child to him in Abeokuta, Ogun State.

The singer stated that he is willing to take full responsibility for the child’s welfare, including education and feeding, but insisted on clarity regarding paternity.

“If you’re very sure that I’m his biological father… bring him down to Ogun State tomorrow,” he said.

Portable also referenced his involvement at the child’s naming ceremony, maintaining that he is not afraid of fatherhood but wants certainty before committing fully.

“I’m not scared of taking responsibility for the child. Bring my son to me in Abeokuta if truly I’m the father,” he added.

The situation has sparked reactions online, with many weighing in on the responsibilities of parenthood and the need for resolution in the interest of the child.

Opinion: Beyond the Drama, a Child’s Welfare Must Come First

This situation may look like another celebrity controversy, but at its core is something far more important—a child’s well-being.

Portable’s response raises two key issues: responsibility and accountability. While it is reasonable for anyone to seek clarity on paternity, the public nature of this dispute is concerning. Matters involving children are sensitive and should ideally be handled privately and respectfully.

The bigger concern, however, is the timeline. If the allegations of abandonment for eight years are accurate, then this is not just about DNA—it’s about consistency, care, and presence.

Parenthood is not only about biological confirmation; it’s about responsibility over time. Even in cases of doubt, proactive steps—such as early verification—should have been taken long before now.

At the same time, both parties share a duty to prioritize the child over personal differences. Public accusations and reactions may generate attention, but they rarely lead to meaningful solutions.

In the end, what matters most is not who is right in the argument, but what is right for the child. And that requires maturity, cooperation, and a willingness to resolve issues away from the spotlight.
