Kun Khalifat FC Qualify for NNL Super Eight, Eyes Promotion Glory: “We Plan to Work Smarter and Harder”

Kun Khalifat FC have sealed their place in the 2024/25 Nigeria National League (NNL) Super Eight Playoffs after a gritty 1-1 draw with Godswill Akpabio FC on Saturday at the Dan Anyiam Stadium in Owerri.

The Owerri-based club topped Group B with 37 points from 19 matches, showcasing consistency, discipline, and an unshakable drive all season.

In a celebratory but determined post on their official platform, the club declared:

“Out of 36 teams, we were the third to qualify to Super Eight of the ongoing NNL 2024/25.

It’s time to plan more smarter and work more header so we crown all our efforts this season and put smiles on everyone that has ever believed in us – KKFC.”

Alongside Kun Khalifat FC, other teams that have already booked their Super Eight tickets include Barau FC, Doma United, Wikki Tourists, and Yobe Desert Stars from the Northern Conference, according to TalkTalk Nigeria.

Opinion: Kun Khalifat FC's Rise Proves Grit Still Wins in Nigerian Football

From underdogs to title contenders, Kun Khalifat FC’s journey is a feel-good story that’s energizing fans in Owerri and beyond. In a league where funding challenges, logistics nightmares, and talent drain often slow progress, KKFC’s steady rise is a lesson in resilience and planning.

Finishing top of a competitive group, and doing it with swagger and heart, this club isn’t just chasing promotion — they’re building belief.

With the NNL Super Eight looming — a tournament that determines who earns promotion to the NPFL — Kun Khalifat’s focus on “working smarter and harder” is exactly the mindset needed. But they’ll need to turn inspiration into execution, because the Super Eight is notoriously unforgiving.

Owerri is dreaming, and if KKFC keeps their heads in the game, they might just deliver the city top-flight football again.
