Darren Bent Backs Liverpool to Retain Premier League Crown
Former Tottenham Hotspur striker, Darren Bent, has thrown his weight behind Liverpool to go back-to-back as Premier League champions in the 2025/26 season.
Speaking ahead of the season’s curtain-raiser, Bent tipped the Reds to fend off fierce competition from Arsenal, Chelsea, and Manchester City, who he predicts will finish second, third, and fourth respectively.
The new Premier League campaign kicks off on Friday night, with Liverpool hosting Bournemouth at Anfield in a bid to launch their title defence in style.
Asked why he believes Liverpool will repeat last season’s triumph, Bent told the Premier League’s official website:
“They have recruited really well. They were the best team last year and have got even better.”
Last season, Liverpool claimed the league crown, while Arsenal, Manchester City, and Chelsea rounded out the top four.
Opinion:
Bent’s prediction will no doubt delight Liverpool fans — and perhaps light a fire under rivals. He makes a fair point: Jürgen Klopp’s men have strengthened in key areas and already set the gold standard last term. But the Premier League is rarely a predictable dance. Arsenal’s hunger, City’s resilience, and Chelsea’s resurgence could all turn this into a title race for the ages.
If Liverpool are to retain their crown, it won’t be just about talent — it will be about weathering the storm of a league where every contender now knows exactly how good they are.
