Remo Stars Relocate to Abeokuta for 2025/26 NPFL Season Amidst Stadium Renovations

Remo Stars Relocate to Abeokuta for 2025/26 NPFL Season Amidst Stadium Renovations

Remo Stars have confirmed that the Moshood Kashimawo Abiola Sports Arena, Abeokuta, will serve as their temporary home ground for the 2025/26 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season.

The club announced on Monday that their Ikenne-based stadium is currently undergoing renovations in preparation for the new campaign. Despite the temporary relocation, the Sky Blue Stars are pushing to secure approval from the Confederation of African Football (CAF) to host their Champions League fixtures at their upgraded home ground in Ikenne.

Daniel Ogunmodede’s men will begin their CAF Champions League journey next month with a clash against US Zilimadjou of Comoros.

The Ikenne outfit made history last season by winning their first-ever NPFL title, following two consecutive years of finishing in second place. They will begin their title defense on Friday with a matchday one showdown against Rivers United in Abeokuta.

Opinion:
For Remo Stars, this is more than just a change of venue—it’s a symbol of growth and ambition. In just a few years, the club has transformed from a rising underdog into a champion and continental contender. The renovations in Ikenne show intent: they are not only building a team to compete but also an infrastructure to match their dreams.

Playing temporarily in Abeokuta may feel like a small disruption, but it could also prove to be an opportunity. The move expands their fanbase beyond Ikenne, allowing more Ogun State football lovers to connect with the team and witness the Sky Blue Stars’ brand of football firsthand.

As they prepare to debut in the CAF Champions League, one thing is clear: Remo Stars are no longer just participating in Nigerian football—they are setting a new standard for ambition, professionalism, and resilience. For the players and fans, the message is simple: whether in Ikenne or Abeokuta, the Sky Blue Stars are ready to shine.
