Nathaniel Bassey to Host Special “Kirikiri Edition” of Hallelujah Challenge on August 27

Renowned gospel minister Nathaniel Bassey has announced a soul-lifting, one-of-a-kind Hallelujah Challenge “Kirikiri Edition”, set to hold on August 27, 2025, at the Kirikiri Medium Security Prison in Lagos.

In a heartfelt post shared via Instagram, the "Imela" crooner revealed that this unique outreach is a deeply personal birthday wish, born out of a strong desire to share hope, healing, and spiritual freedom with inmates through the power of praise and worship.

“This is my heart’s desire for my birthday,” Bassey wrote.
“We’ll praise, eat together and afterwards give out some scholarships.”

🎶 A Hallelujah Challenge Like No Other

This one-day event will feature a special session of intimate praise and worship, distribution of meals, and the awarding of scholarships to selected prisoners — a powerful blend of spiritual upliftment and tangible impact.

While the event may not be streamed live due to security concerns, Bassey encouraged his online community to pray along in spirit, citing Acts 16:25-26 as the biblical inspiration for this prison-focused praise session:

“The first ever Hallelujah challenge was in Acts 16:25-26, when Paul and Silas prayed and sang praises to God. Though we may not stream this for security reasons, you can pray along with us as we go.”

🔥 Revival Behind Bars

Bassey expressed unwavering faith that the event will spark spiritual liberation among the inmates and lead to a massive harvest of souls. The initiative, combining music, ministry, and mercy, underscores the core mission of the Hallelujah Challenge — to bring God’s presence into every corner of human existence, even behind prison walls.

🙏 Opinion – Worship Without Walls

Nathaniel Bassey’s decision to bring worship to Kirikiri Prison is more than an act of generosity — it’s a bold reminder that God’s grace knows no boundaries. In a world where many marginalize the imprisoned, this gospel-led outreach shines as a beacon of redemption.

With praise echoing behind bars, this edition of the Hallelujah Challenge could be its most powerful yet — not because it trends online, but because it touches hearts offline.

The regular Hallelujah Challenge is set to return in October 2025, but until then, all eyes — and prayers — are on what God will do on August 27.
