Nollywood Mourns as Kayode Peters Is Laid to Rest in Canada

The Nigerian entertainment industry is in mourning following the burial of beloved actor and producer Kayode Peters, who was laid to rest today, August 2, in Ontario, Canada.

A funeral service was held at the McKersie & Early House Funeral Home, after which his remains were interred at the Milton Evergreen Cemetery. Friends, family, and colleagues gathered to pay their final respects to the man who made countless Nigerians laugh, especially through his iconic role as Koko in the popular TV series Flatmates.

Peters tragically passed away on June 28 in Canada after battling an undisclosed illness. He was 49 years old.

💔 A Life of Laughter, A Loss Felt Deeply

Known for his comic brilliance and creative productions, Kayode Peters was more than an actor — he was a storyteller, a mentor, and a pioneer in Nigeria's television comedy space. His contributions helped shape a generation of sitcoms and comedy talent.

He is survived by his wife and children, and his legacy lives on through his work and the many lives he touched on and off screen.

🕯️ Opinion – A Farewell to a Quiet Legend

While he may not have been the loudest name in Nollywood, Kayode Peters was deeply respected and undeniably impactful. He brought joy into Nigerian homes for years — and though he is gone, the laughter he gave us will echo forever.

May his soul rest in peace, and may his family find strength in the love being poured out across the world.
