BBNaija’s Sultana Reveals Why She Chose Islam Over Christianity
Big Brother Naija 10/10 housemate Farida Sultana Auduson Ibrahim, popularly known as Sultana, has opened up about her faith journey, revealing that she converted to Islam after growing up in a multi-religious home.
In a heart-to-heart chat with fellow housemate Zita on Wednesday night, the 25-year-old plus-size model shared that she was born into a home where her father is a Muslim from Adamawa State and her mother is a Christian from Yala, Cross River State.
“I grew up going to both church and mosque. My mom is a Christian, and at some point, I got baptized in the Catholic church — my baptismal name is Josephine,” she recounted. “But eventually, I decided to choose the religion that works best for me, which is Islam.”
Her revelation sparked admiration from many fans who applauded her for making a deeply personal decision based on conviction rather than external pressure. In a world where religion is often inherited without question, Sultana’s story is a reminder that faith can be a personal journey — one guided by experience, understanding, and connection.
Opinion:
In today’s society, it takes courage to openly speak about religious choices, especially when they involve stepping away from one’s upbringing. Sultana’s decision is not just about religion; it’s about ownership of one’s beliefs. Whether Christian, Muslim, or otherwise, the beauty lies in finding a spiritual path that brings peace and purpose. And in Sultana’s case, her calm confidence shows that faith is truly personal — not a label, but a lived experience.
