Nollywood Actor Ibrahim Chatta Loses Son, Industry Mourns Another Painful Loss
Popular Nollywood actor Ibrahim Chatta is in mourning following the passing of his son. The 54-year-old actor broke the heartbreaking news on Saturday via his Instagram page but did not disclose the cause of death.
Sharing a photo of the late boy, Chatta wrote:
“Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un. Ya Allah, You are the Knower of all things. Rest on, Dear son, champ.”
His colleagues and fans immediately flooded the comment section with prayers and words of comfort for the grieving father.
The tragedy comes just days after Nollywood veteran Peju Ogunmola lost her son, Ayomikun Oluwanisola, a loss that left the industry shaken. Actress Biola Adebayo described that death as “devastating and heartbreaking,” noting it was especially painful as Ogunmola’s only child.
With two prominent Nollywood families hit by the loss of their children within a week, the film industry has been thrown into deep sorrow.
Opinion
Grief is a language that spares no one, regardless of status, fame, or fortune. The losses of Ibrahim Chatta and Peju Ogunmola’s sons remind us of life’s fragility and how quickly the certainties we hold dear can be altered.
It is never easy for any parent to bury a child—a reversal of the natural order that leaves scars time struggles to heal. Yet, in moments like this, the power of community and empathy becomes vital. The outpouring of love from colleagues, fans, and friends shows that grief, though personal, is never solitary.
As we mourn with these Nollywood stars, perhaps the lesson is clear: life is fleeting, relationships are priceless, and love must be expressed while we still have the chance. Today, the Nigerian film industry weeps, but in its tears lies a deeper reminder of the bonds that unite us all.
