Rita Edochie Calls Out Soludo Over Dry Taps in Anambra

Rita Edochie Calls Out Soludo Over Dry Taps in Anambra

Veteran Nollywood actress Rita Edochie has openly criticized Anambra State Governor, Professor Charles Soludo, over the persistent lack of pipeborne water in parts of the state, particularly Onitsha.

In a strongly worded post shared on her Instagram page, Rita recalled that during the governor’s re-election campaign, residents enjoyed a brief return of pipeborne water, a development she described as a “campaign magic” that eased the burden on many households who previously relied on water vendors. According to her, the situation changed shortly after the election, with taps once again running dry.

The actress expressed disappointment, noting that access to clean water is a basic necessity and not a luxury. She lamented that residents are now battling both unstable power supply and lack of pipeborne water, conditions she said have forced many to resort to prayers and hope.

Rita appealed directly to Governor Soludo, urging him to revisit the issue and fulfil what she described as a promise made to the people during the campaign period.

Opinion:
Rita Edochie’s outcry echoes the frustrations of many Nigerians who feel that campaign promises often fade once elections are over. Her message is striking not just because it comes from a public figure, but because it highlights an everyday struggle — access to clean water — that affects ordinary people the most.

While governance is complex and solutions are rarely instant, basic amenities like water remain a clear measure of leadership impact at the grassroots. Rita’s post serves as a reminder that citizens are watching, remembering, and holding leaders accountable. Whether this public appeal leads to action or not, it reinforces an important truth: promises tied to essential needs should never be treated as temporary gestures, but as long-term commitments to the people.
