Nollywood Actor Uzor Arukwe Emphasizes Boundaries on Set Amid Rumours
Nollywood actor Uzor Arukwe, popularly known as Odogwu Paranran from the movie Love In Every Word, has addressed how he maintains professional boundaries while working alongside female colleagues on film sets.
In an interview with BBC News Igbo, Arukwe explained that he always discusses what is acceptable before filming any scene that involves close contact. “I always discuss boundaries with any female colleague I’m asked to act with. I make sure we talk about what is acceptable before we start filming. I avoid touching areas that could make the actress or her partner uncomfortable,” he said.
The actor emphasized that such conversations are essential because acting sometimes requires physical closeness, and both parties should feel comfortable before the cameras roll.
Arukwe also addressed ongoing rumours linking him romantically with various female colleagues, particularly Bambam. He denied the claims, stating that he is a married man and that what audiences see on screen is purely professional work. “I am a married man. The rumours about me and different women are not true. What people see in movies is just part of my work,” he added.
Opinion: Setting a Professional Standard
Uzor Arukwe’s approach is a commendable example of professionalism in Nollywood. Clear communication and respect for boundaries not only protect actors but also create a safe working environment.
In an industry where rumours and assumptions often overshadow talent, Arukwe’s transparency highlights the importance of separating on-screen performances from real-life relationships. For aspiring actors, his example demonstrates that integrity, communication, and respect are just as important as skill in building a lasting career.
