NNL Super 4 Champions to Earn N10m as Tournament Kicks Off in Ikenne
The 2025/2026 Nigeria National League Nigeria National League has announced that the winners of its Super 4 tournament will receive a cash prize of ₦10 million, alongside participation fees for all competing clubs.
The announcement was made during the official draw ceremony held in Lagos on Friday, setting the stage for the season-ending competition that will determine the overall champion of the campaign.
Four clubs—Sporting Lagos, Inter Lagos, Doma United, and Ranchers Bees—will all compete for the title, with each team receiving ₦2 million as participation support.
The tournament will begin on Monday, May 4, at the Remo Stars Stadium. The opening fixture will see Sporting Lagos face Ranchers Bees, while Doma United will battle Inter Lagos in the second match of the day.
Organizers say the Super 4 will not only determine the league champion but also serve as a showcase of the best teams from the season.
Opinion: A Positive Step for Lower-League Football Growth
The introduction of a ₦10 million prize for the Super 4 winner is a welcome development for the Nigeria National League. It adds competitive motivation beyond promotion, giving clubs something tangible to fight for even after a long season.
For many of these teams, financial support is just as important as silverware. The ₦2 million participation fee alone helps reduce operational pressure, especially for clubs managing travel, logistics, and player welfare on limited budgets.
Beyond money, the tournament also creates visibility. Matches like these offer players a platform to attract attention from top-flight clubs, which is often the biggest stepping stone in their careers.
However, the long-term success of initiatives like this will depend on consistency. If the NNL can maintain and grow these incentives, it could significantly improve competitiveness and professionalism across Nigeria’s football pyramid.
For now, all eyes turn to Ikenne, where four clubs will compete not just for a trophy—but for recognition, progress, and momentum into the next season.
