FC Midtjylland Bring Back Nigerian Striker Stanley Iheanacho on Long-Term Deal

Danish Superliga champions FC Midtjylland have completed the return of Nigerian striker Stanley Iheanacho from Portuguese club CD Mafra.

The 21-year-old forward has signed a long-term contract with the Danish side that will keep him at the club until December 31, 2030.

Iheanacho is no stranger to Midtjylland, having previously been part of the club’s setup before leaving for CD Mafra two years ago in search of more first-team opportunities.

During his time in Portugal, the Nigerian striker impressed with his consistency, scoring 17 goals in 65 appearances across two seasons.

The forward expressed his excitement about returning to a familiar environment and believes he can make a strong impact.

“I already know many of the team, as several of those I played with in the U19 team and in Mafra are now playing in the first team. I look forward to being part of the club again, hopefully winning titles and playing in the Europa League,” Iheanacho told the club’s official website.

His return continues FC Midtjylland’s long-standing connection with Nigerian talent, with the club previously helping develop players such as Paul Onuachu, Frank Onyeka, and Raphael Onyedika.

For Iheanacho, the move represents an opportunity to take the next step in his career and prove himself at a higher level. With a five-year contract secured, the striker will be hoping to repay the club’s faith and establish himself as a key figure in the Danish side’s future plans.
