Nasarawa United Begin Off-Season Break, Set Bigger Targets for New NPFL Campaign
Nasarawa United have announced a 21-day off-season break for their players, technical team, and backroom staff following the conclusion of the 2025/26 Nigeria Premier Football League season.
The break, which began on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, will run until July 13, 2026, giving the team time to rest and prepare for the challenges ahead.
The Solid Miners finished sixth in the NPFL campaign, while their run in the President Federation Cup ended at the semi-final stage after a penalty shootout defeat to Ikorodu City FC following a 1-1 draw in regulation time.
The club admitted that the season did not fully meet their expectations but confirmed that a review of their performance is already underway.
Nasarawa United stated that their ambition for the 2026/27 season is higher, with the club targeting a push for the NPFL title and qualification for continental football.
Opinion: Nasarawa United’s decision to evaluate their season shows the importance of turning setbacks into planning opportunities. A sixth-place finish and a cup semi-final appearance are respectable achievements, but the club’s ambition suggests they want to compete at a higher level.
The challenge will be converting their intentions into action through smart recruitment, improved consistency, and a clear strategy capable of competing with the league’s strongest teams.
