Flamingos Thrash RoyalToms Queens 11-0 Ahead of U-17 World Cup Qualifier Against Benin
Nigeria’s U-17 women’s national team, the Flamingos, have boosted their confidence ahead of the 2026 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup qualifiers with a convincing 11-0 victory over RoyalToms Queens in a friendly match.
The encounter, played at the Remo Stars Sports Complex, served as the team’s final preparation game before their qualification battle against Benin Republic.
Harmony Chidi was the standout performer, scoring a hat-trick, while Kindness Ifeanyi added two goals to the dominant display.
Other players who found the back of the net for the Flamingos were Queen Joseph, Mary Dunstan, Tobiloba Sarafa, Destiny Itobore, Precious Oscar, and Koasarat Olarenwaju.
The emphatic win gives coach Akeem Busari’s side a strong confidence boost as they now turn their attention to the first leg of their qualifier against the Young Amazons of Benin Republic.
The first leg is scheduled to take place at the Remo Stars Sports Complex on Saturday, July 4, while the return fixture will be played a week later at Stade de Kegue in Lome.
Opinion: A big friendly win does not guarantee qualification, but it can provide valuable momentum and reveal the attacking strength of a team. For the Flamingos, scoring 11 goals before a competitive fixture sends a message that they are ready for the challenge.
The real test, however, will come against Benin Republic, where discipline, consistency, and the ability to handle pressure will matter more than just goals scored in preparation matches.
