Defending champions Nigeria's Flying Eagles have secured their place in the semi-finals of the WAFU B U-20 Championship after an impressive 3-0 victory over Togo's Sparrow Hawks.

The convincing win, achieved on Thursday, also confirmed Togo's elimination from the tournament following their earlier 3-1 defeat to Burkina Faso in their opening fixture.

Despite a cagey first half in which both sides struggled to create clear-cut scoring opportunities, Nigeria returned from the break with renewed intensity and quickly took control of the contest.

Just one minute into the second half, Muiz Adeleke broke the deadlock, giving the Flying Eagles the perfect start after the restart.

The in-form striker doubled Nigeria's advantage in the 57th minute, continuing his outstanding run in the competition. Adeleke has now scored four goals in just two matches, underlining his status as one of the tournament's standout performers.

With Togo unable to mount a response, Abdullahi Agbeloye sealed the victory five minutes from full-time, putting the result beyond doubt and ensuring Nigeria finished the evening with maximum points.

The Flying Eagles now sit comfortably at the top of Group B with six points from two matches and will conclude their group-stage campaign against Burkina Faso on Sunday.

Having already booked their place in the last four, Nigeria can approach the final group fixture with confidence while continuing preparations for the knockout stage as they pursue a successful defence of their regional title.
