Mexican social media influencer César Gastélum was shot dead while livestreaming on TikTok in the city of Culiacán, marking another tragic case involving the killing of an online personality in Mexico.

Gastélum, who was known for creating comedy content on the platform, was reportedly broadcasting live with two friends outside a fast-food restaurant on Tuesday when the attack occurred.

According to reports, two men arrived at the location on a motorcycle before one of the suspects allegedly approached Gastélum and shot him at close range. The attackers fled the scene immediately after the incident.

Local media reported that police initially mistook the victim for a food delivery rider because he and his companions were wearing bright yellow jackets and carrying delivery bags. Authorities later confirmed that the deceased was César Gastélum.

Law enforcement officials have launched an investigation into the killing. Police are examining cartridge casings recovered from the scene and reviewing nearby CCTV footage in an effort to identify those responsible.

In May 2025, beauty influencer Valeria Márquez was fatally shot while livestreaming from a beauty salon in Zapopan.
