The Independent National Electoral Commission has uploaded the Nigeria Democratic Congress's modified logo to its website and updated the party's leadership listing, with Cleopas Moses Zuwoghe as national chairman and Ikenna Morgan Enekweizu as national secretary. It followed a court order.
Fifteen outlets ran it within hours, most of them labelling it breaking news. The underlying fact is a party getting its own details displayed correctly.
Why the website entry matters more than it sounds
INEC's published register is the operative record of what a party is. The logo on that page is the logo that appears on the ballot. The names on that page are the people the commission will accept nomination papers from. A party whose entry is wrong or out of date is a party that cannot reliably do the two things a party exists to do.
The part that should not be routine
A court order was required. The NDC secured a directive before the update happened, which means the ordinary administrative route either did not work or did not work fast enough.
An electoral commission that updates its own register when a judge tells it to is a commission with a timetable problem, whatever the reason turns out to be.
Why the NDC specifically
Because it is Peter Obi's platform for 2027, which makes every administrative step around it politically loaded. That is exactly the reason the process needs to be visibly boring. A commission that is slow with a major opposition platform invites an interpretation whether or not the interpretation is fair.
What would settle the question

The listing is now correct, which is the thing that had to happen. How long it took, and whether the same wait applies to everyone, is the question the correction does not answer.
