Edo Queens Came From Behind Twice And Won It On Penalties

Edo Queens have won the WAFU-B Women's Champions League qualifier again. They twice went behind against the Ghanaian champions Ampem Darkoa Ladies in the final in Ouagadougou, twice came back to force 2-2, and then won the shootout 4-1.
That puts them into the CAF Women's Champions League finals for another year.

Why a club side keeps carrying this
Edo Queens are now the standing representative of Nigerian women's football at continental club level. They qualify, they travel, they compete, and they do it with a budget that would not cover a mid-table NPFL men's side's away travel for a season.
Nigerian women's football has produced a strange situation in which the club game is delivering continental results while the conversation at national level is about structural failure and unpaid bonuses. Both things are true at once.
Coming from behind twice in a continental final is a squad-depth achievement. Squad depth is the thing Nigerian women's football is repeatedly told it does not have.
What the Champions League actually costs them
Qualification is not a prize cheque. It is a fixture list in another country, with flights, accommodation, medical cover and a longer season for players who are mostly not on full-time professional contracts.
Clubs at this level usually find out late whether the money is there. Edo Queens have now given themselves the same problem for a second year running, which is the best kind of problem to have and still a problem.
Whoever underwrites that trip decides how well Nigeria is represented. The football part has already been settled.
