BBNaija Star Phyna Cries Out Over Detention in Abuja Hotel, Claims She’s Being Held Over ₦3.5 Million Damage Allegation

BBNaija Star Phyna Cries Out Over Detention in Abuja Hotel, Claims She’s Being Held Over ₦3.5 Million Damage Allegation

Reality TV star Phyna has sparked concern among fans after revealing that she is being detained following an altercation at Dalchifit Hotel, Gwarinpa, Abuja.

In a series of emotional posts shared via her Instagram story, the Big Brother Naija Level Up winner alleged that the hotel accused her of damaging property worth ₦3.5 million and has refused to release her until she pays for it.

According to Phyna, the incident started after some individuals she knew allegedly gained access to her hotel room and attacked her — an act she claims the hotel’s management failed to prevent despite their responsibility to protect guests.

“Dalchifit Hotel in Gwarinpa allowed touts to come in to fight me, and now they’re about to lock me up till Monday because I refused to pay a damage of ₦3.5 million,” she wrote.
“A hotel that allowed touts through their main gate, through reception, up till the second floor to break my door… I’ve never seen that type of thing.”

Phyna also stated that she requested CCTV footage from the hotel and the police to prove what happened, but neither has provided it so far.

“They’ve refused to show the CCTV footage to the police. After putting me at risk, Dalchifit is about to lock me up,” she added.

💬 Opinion: A Celebrity’s Cry That Calls for Fairness and Accountability

Phyna’s ordeal once again shines a light on the thorny relationship between fame, privacy, and accountability in Nigeria’s entertainment scene.

On one hand, if her claims are true, no celebrity—or any guest—should be made to pay for damages without proper investigation or evidence. Hotels owe every guest a duty of care and security, especially in situations where violence occurs on their premises. Allowing unauthorized persons to access a guest’s room, if confirmed, is a severe breach of hospitality ethics.

On the other hand, the situation also underscores how quickly a public figure’s troubles become headlines, sometimes before all facts are verified. Phyna’s fame, which should offer her privilege, may ironically have made her a target for unfair treatment or even exploitation.

What this issue calls for is transparency and due process. If there was damage, CCTV footage should easily reveal the truth. The hotel must provide clear evidence, and the police should ensure that justice isn’t swayed by influence or emotion.

Phyna’s emotional plea — “Because I’m Phyna, I’m being forced…” — is more than a celebrity outburst. It’s a reminder that being famous doesn’t strip anyone of their rights. In a country where institutions are often quick to act without proof, her voice echoes a broader call: let fairness prevail, no matter who is involved.
