Papaya Ex Defends Bobrisky: “It’s All About Content Creation”
Nigerian influencer and actress Abike Halima Raheem, popularly known as Papaya Ex, has weighed in on the ongoing debates surrounding controversial crossdresser Idris Okunneye, widely known as Bobrisky.
During an interview on Yanga 89.9 FM in Lagos, Papaya Ex defended the endless criticism Bobrisky faces over his lifestyle and gender expression. She argued that much of the attention stems from his role as a content creator rather than any personal wrongdoing.
“If you’re mad at Bobrisky, you need to check yourself. I feel like he’s just having fun,” Papaya Ex said. She added that Bobrisky may eventually return to more traditional life roles, such as fatherhood, but for now, his focus is on entertainment and content creation.
“Later in the future, Bobrisky will go back to being a father. For now, I think it’s all about content. People evolve with time,” she explained.
Opinion: Letting Creators Create
Papaya Ex’s perspective highlights a broader conversation about personal freedom and public perception in Nigeria’s entertainment space. Bobrisky’s flamboyant persona may spark debate, but it also exemplifies how social media culture rewards boldness and individuality.
Instead of focusing on judgment, fans might consider appreciating the artistry and creativity behind the content. After all, evolution is part of everyone’s journey—and for public figures, that evolution is often on full display. Bobrisky’s approach reminds us that sometimes, what looks controversial may simply be a strategy to entertain, engage, and challenge norms.
