Uganda Cranes Land in Morocco to Begin Final AFCON Preparations
The Cranes of Uganda have touched down in Casablanca, Morocco, for the final phase of their preparations ahead of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
A group consisting of 17 players, officials, and technical staff departed Entebbe International Airport on Sunday night via Qatar Airways and arrived in Morocco on Monday morning. The remaining 13 players are expected to join the squad later in the week as preparations intensify.
Uganda will undergo an 11-day training camp in Morocco, featuring two friendly games designed to sharpen the team before the continental showpiece kicks off.
The Cranes will compete in a tough Group C alongside three-time African champions Nigeria, North African giants Tunisia, and East African rivals Tanzania. Paul Put’s men will begin their campaign against Tunisia on December 23 at the Complexe Sportif de Fes.
Opinion: A True Test of Growth and Grit for Uganda
This AFCON journey feels like more than just participation for Uganda—it is a valuable chance to show how much the team has grown on the African stage.
They’re stepping into a group where nothing will be handed to them. Tunisia will bring experience and tactical discipline; Nigeria boasts star power and an intimidating squad depth; Tanzania carries regional rivalry and familiarity.
For Uganda, this is a moment to prove they can not only compete—but rise to the challenge.
Their early arrival in Morocco reflects serious preparation and belief. With the right mindset and a united squad, the Cranes might just surprise Africa. Football is full of underdog stories, and Uganda has every reason to write their own.
As the countdown continues, fans back home—and across the continent—will be watching with hope, excitement, and pride.
