Carragher Warns Arsenal About Phil Foden’s Red-Hot Form in Title Race

Carragher Warns Arsenal About Phil Foden’s Red-Hot Form in Title Race

Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher has sounded a warning to Arsenal fans, insisting that the resurgence of Phil Foden could tilt the Premier League title race back in Manchester City’s favour.

Foden endured a quieter campaign last season as City slipped behind Liverpool in Arne Slot’s first year in charge. But the England star has bounced back in style — scoring five goals in his last three matches, including a key contribution in City’s 3–0 win over Sunderland that cut Arsenal’s lead to just two points.

Speaking on Monday Night Football, Carragher said Arsenal should be concerned:

“If he continues in the form that he was when he was Player of the Year two years ago, I think as an Arsenal fan I would really be worried in terms of the title.”

He added that while Erling Haaland remains City’s main weapon, the Norwegian cannot carry the team alone:

“Haaland has just been Haaland… If Man City are going to win the league they will need goals from other areas.”

OPINION — Arsenal’s Biggest Threat Might Not Be Haaland After All

Arsenal fans have spent much of the season looking over their shoulders for Erling Haaland. But what if their real problem is Phil Foden — a player who can destroy defences quietly but brutally?

When Foden is confident, City becomes unpredictable, fluid, and almost unstoppable.
He’s the type of footballer who doesn’t just score — he changes games.

Arsenal have enjoyed a fantastic start and look like genuine title favourites… for now. But Manchester City has a habit of coming alive when the pressure rises. And with Foden hitting top gear, it feels like the champions are beginning that familiar late-season hunt.

If Arsenal truly want to break the Manchester City dominance, they must prove they can match talent with mentality — not just in the easy fixtures, but in the defining moments.

Because history has shown one painful truth:
City don’t chase — they catch.
