Mohammed Ali, popularly known online as IAM_ALMED, has opened up about his journey into content creation and the creative decisions that have shaped his rise to fame — including why he dresses as a woman in many of his viral skits.
The Ghanaian-born skitmaker, who began creating content in 2020, shortly after the global pandemic outbreak, says the decision was intentional and artistic.
“The whole notion of dressing as a lady is because women have hilarious characteristics,” he said. “I wanted to express those traits, and I knew I could do it flawlessly.”

Ali credits a friend — known online for appearing with “the Bread” — for showing him the ropes of TikTok video editing. They worked together to create a unique and humorous dance style that fans quickly embraced.
“We didn’t go to any dance school. We sat down and came up with our own style, and we know our audience enjoys seeing us together,” IAM_ALMED explained.
His skits are a blend of Bollywood inspiration, relatable African humor, and expressive storytelling, all done with a twist that keeps his followers glued to their screens.

After graduating from Senior High School with a WAEC certificate, Ali struggled to find a job. Living alone and seeking purpose, he began filming videos — without his parents’ knowledge.
“My parents only found out after seeing me on television. They were proud of me and never discouraged me.”
Today, his entire family — mother, sister, and brother — occasionally features in his content. What started as a solo hustle is now a family-empowered creative pursuit.

Despite the fame and progress so far, IAM_ALMED says he’s far from satisfied.
“I’m proud of how far I’ve come, but I still haven’t reached where I want to be. The world will see me, and I have many more opportunities to explore — such as a space tour.”
