Zubimendi Lauds Rice and Odegaard, Calls Them “Best in the Game”

Zubimendi Lauds Rice and Odegaard, Calls Them “Best in the Game”

New Arsenal signing Martin Zubimendi is already settling in comfortably at the Emirates — and he’s not shy about showing admiration for his new teammates.

Speaking after Arsenal’s 3-0 pre-season Emirates Cup win over Athletic Bilbao on Saturday, the Spanish midfielder heaped praise on Declan Rice and Martin Odegaard, describing them as “top players, the best in their position.”

“It was very easy – the team made it very easy for me. I think the people on and off the pitch are very friendly,” Zubimendi told Arsenal Media.
“[Declan and Odegaard] are top players, the best in their position. It is time to learn, adapt and enjoy it above all.”

Zubimendi joined Arsenal from Real Sociedad this summer, a move many fans see as another masterstroke from Mikel Arteta. His midfield chemistry with Rice and Odegaard could be the glue that transforms Arsenal from “title challengers” to “title winners.”

Opinion:
What’s particularly refreshing is Zubimendi’s humility. In an era where big-money signings often arrive with big egos, here’s a player who’s openly calling himself a learner and showing respect to those around him. That mindset — combined with his evident technical ability — is exactly what Arsenal needs to maintain the harmony and drive in their squad.

With Arsenal set to face Manchester United in their Premier League opener next weekend, fans will be eager to see how quickly Zubimendi can translate his pre-season comfort into competitive brilliance. If his words are anything to go by, he’s not just here to fit in — he’s here to shine.
