Seyi Awolowo Vows Never to Return to Big Brother Naija

Seyi Awolowo Vows Never to Return to Big Brother Naija

Former Big Brother Naija housemate, Seyi Awolowo, has revealed that he would never return to the popular reality TV show, even if given the chance.

Speaking on the Old Secrets podcast, Seyi reflected on his BBNaija experience, admitting that while the show gave him exposure, it also subjected him to unnecessary negativity.

According to him, he felt “bullied by very low, insignificant, and uneducated people” during and after his time in the house, adding that he wouldn’t allow such an experience again.

“I will never go back to the show, Multichoice can’t even call me… I allowed myself to get bullied by very, very insignificant and uneducated people. Not to mention the educated ones who had the ability to see the truth but, out of convenience, refused to stand by it,” he said.

Seyi further explained that even if he could go back in time, he wouldn’t change his actions in the house. Instead, he sees the experience as one from which he has learned valuable lessons.

Opinion: The Reality Beyond Reality Shows

Seyi’s words shine a light on the often-overlooked mental and emotional toll of reality television. While shows like Big Brother Naija provide fame, money, and influence, they also expose participants to extreme public scrutiny. For many housemates, the real challenge begins outside the house—facing judgment, online trolling, and a relentless demand to live up to expectations.

Seyi’s insistence that he wouldn’t return suggests a man who values peace of mind over spotlight. And maybe that’s the bigger lesson for both viewers and future housemates: reality shows can shape careers, but they can also scar personalities.

As fans, perhaps we need to reflect too. Entertainment should not come at the cost of dehumanizing those who entertain us.
