Tega Dominic Appointed Special Adviser on Sexual Harassment to AGN President
Big Brother Naija star and actress Tega Dominic has been appointed as Special Adviser on Sexual Harassment to Abubakar Yakubu, the newly elected president of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN).
The appointment was announced on Thursday, January 29, 2026, via a post on AGN’s official Instagram story. Sharing her appointment letter on Instagram, Tega expressed her dedication to the role, outlining a clear agenda focused on education, awareness, accountability, and support for survivors of sexual harassment.
She wrote, “My commitment is clear: education, awareness, and accountability, zero tolerance for sexual harassment, protection and support for survivors, safe and confidential reporting systems, and a culture where respect is non-negotiable.”
Tega rose to prominence in 2021 after participating in the ‘Shine Ya Eye’ edition of Big Brother Naija, and has since built a reputation as an outspoken advocate for social issues within the entertainment industry.
Opinion: A Step Towards Safer Workspaces in Nollywood
Tega Dominic’s appointment marks an important step for Nollywood and the broader entertainment industry, signaling a growing commitment to tackling sexual harassment in a sector that has long been plagued by unreported abuses. By placing a public figure with both influence and experience at the forefront of this initiative, AGN sends a strong message that survivor protection and accountability are now priorities.
Her focus on education and creating confidential reporting channels could reshape the culture in Nigerian entertainment, empowering both established actors and upcoming talents to speak up without fear. It is also a reminder that meaningful change requires visible, dedicated champions — and Tega’s appointment positions her as a potential role model for respectful and safe professional spaces in Nollywood.
This move is timely and crucial, and if implemented effectively, it could serve as a blueprint for other creative industries in Nigeria and beyond.
