Nollywood Actor Laide Olabanji Slams Tinubu Over Rising Insecurity in Nigeria
Laide Olabanji, CEO of LAIBAN Films International, has criticized President Bola Tinubu over what he described as the government’s failure to protect lives and property amid worsening insecurity across the country.
The filmmaker made the remarks while reacting to recent violent incidents, including the killing of a teacher in Oyo State and ongoing bandit attacks in Plateau State, which have continued to claim lives and displace communities.
In a video shared on Instagram, Olabanji expressed frustration over the persistent killings, questioning the government’s response and describing the situation as deeply disturbing.
Speaking in pidgin English, he lamented the daily loss of lives and accused leaders of being insensitive to the suffering of citizens.
“Nigerians are being killed every minute… and you are not afraid of God,” he said, while calling for urgent action to restore security in the country.
He also added that if the government cannot provide basic infrastructure such as electricity, roads, and economic relief, it should at least prioritize ensuring safety for citizens.
Opinion
Olabanji’s comments reflect a growing wave of frustration among Nigerians over insecurity, which has remained one of the country’s most pressing challenges. Public figures often amplify these concerns, especially when incidents involve schools and rural communities.
While criticism of leadership is a key part of democratic expression, the underlying issue remains the urgent need for coordinated and effective security reforms that move beyond statements and address real-time threats.
At the heart of the matter is a national demand for safety — a basic expectation that continues to shape public trust in government institutions.
