Daddy Freeze Questions Nathaniel Bassey Over Prayer Visit to Late Alex Ekubo

Daddy Freeze Questions Nathaniel Bassey Over Prayer Visit to Late Alex Ekubo

Media personality Daddy Freeze has sparked controversy after questioning gospel singer and pastor Nathaniel Bassey over his comments about the late actor Alex Ekubo during the actor’s Service of Songs.

Nathaniel Bassey had revealed at the event that he was invited by a pastor friend to visit Alex Ekubo in the hospital and pray for him. However, according to the gospel minister, Alex passed away a day before the planned visit.

He explained that he still honoured the invitation and visited the actor’s family on the scheduled day after his death, where he prayed and ministered to them.

Reacting to the story, Daddy Freeze criticised the situation during an Instagram Live session, questioning why the opportunity was not used to demonstrate the healing and miracle claims often associated with some religious ministries.

Freeze said he was surprised that after hearing Nathaniel Bassey speak about being called to pray for Alex, the singer did not attempt what he described as a chance to showcase divine power.

“So we’re sitting down minding our business, and Nathaniel Bassey climbed the pulpit… then he starts talking and said he has never met Alex before, but then his pastor friend said they should go and pray for Alex,” Freeze said.

He added: “And I’m like really? What happened to all your miracles, healing and your resurrection that you post on your platforms? I would have thought this is an opportunity to show your God’s glory.”

The comments have generated reactions online, with some people supporting Freeze’s questions about public displays of faith, while others criticised him for challenging a grieving family’s memorial event and the intentions behind the pastor’s visit.

The debate has once again brought attention to discussions around faith, miracles, and the expectations placed on religious figures during moments of tragedy.

While opinions remain divided, the conversation reflects a wider question about how spiritual leaders should be viewed — whether through public demonstrations of miracles or through their role in offering comfort and support during difficult times.
