Nollywood Actress Omeche Oko Survives Ghastly Bike Accident on Movie Set Days Before Birthday
Nollywood actress Omeche Oko has revealed how she narrowly escaped death after being involved in a serious motorbike accident on a movie set just days before her birthday.
The actress shared a video of the incident on her Instagram page on Wednesday, showing the moment she and her colleague Victory Michael were involved in the accident while filming a scene in Lagos.
According to reports, Victory Michael was riding the bike when it crashed into a pole at the movie location. The impact caused Victory to hit her chest against the pole and briefly lose consciousness, while Omeche sustained a leg injury.
Crew members immediately rushed both actresses to an undisclosed medical facility for treatment.
Reflecting on the incident, Oko described life as fragile and expressed gratitude for surviving the accident.
“Life is very very fragile. It could have been a different story but God said No. If you see an actor today, give them a hug. We take a lot of risks for the craft. All I can say is thank you God,” she wrote.
Several Nollywood colleagues, including Mofe Duncan, Chinenye Nnebe, Alichi Chizzy Mbah, Nkechi Blessing Sunday, Nosa Rex, Chidi Dike, Toniala Aladese, Doris Ifeka and Onyi Alex, alongside producers Uche Nancy and Toyosi Etim Effiong, sent messages of support and wished her a speedy recovery.
Opinion: The incident highlights the unseen risks actors take to bring movie scenes to life. While action and outdoor scenes add excitement to productions, safety measures on set remain crucial to protecting the lives of performers and crew members.
