Bella Shmurda, Zlatan And FOLA Made A Record Called It's Over
Lagos · Friday 11 September 2026
FOLA, Bella Shmurda and Zlatan have released It's Over, a three-way collaboration ahead of FOLA's album.
Why three-artist records became normal
Because streaming changed the arithmetic. A track with three artists is pushed to three fanbases, appears on three sets of algorithmic playlists and is posted by three sets of followers. The cost is a split of the royalties. The benefit is a multiple of the distribution.
| Era | What a collaboration was for |
|---|---|
| Physical sales | A creative choice, occasionally a favour |
| Radio | Access to a bigger name's rotation |
| Streaming | Combining audiences, deliberately |
Only the third row makes the maths work automatically.
Where these three sit
Zlatan has been one of the most reliable hit-makers in the Lagos street sound for years and carries a particular kind of domestic weight. Bella Shmurda came through with an emotional, melodic version of the same scene. FOLA is the newest of the three, releasing an album, and is the one who needs this record most.
On a three-way record, work out who needed it most. That tells you who paid for it.
The street sound's position now
It is the most commercially durable strand in Nigerian music domestically and the least exported. The Afrobeats that travels internationally is smoother, and the records that actually move in Lagos are frequently these. That gap is why an artist can be enormous at home and barely register on a global chart.
What to watch
Whether It's Over is on the album or was released to sell it. Those are different strategies, and the second one is more common than the credits usually admit.
