Davido has shared a clip in which he insists Israel DMW pay for fuel and pizza during an outing. The exchange has been widely shared and read as affectionate teasing.
It is a joke, and it is worth taking one step past the joke.
The role that has no name
Israel DMW is a logistics manager and aide who became famous for being near somebody famous. Nigerian music has a large number of people in that position: personal assistants, hype men, drivers, cousins and friends who are simultaneously employees, companions and content.

These relationships are now part of the product. The clips perform, the dynamic is familiar to millions, and the aide's ordinary moments become material. That has made some of them minor celebrities in their own right, with brand deals of their own, which is a genuine upside that did not exist a decade ago.
The thing that would make it durable
A contract, a defined role and a wage, which sounds joyless applied to a friendship and is what protects the person with less power when the friendship changes. Nigerian music has a long history of people who were close to a star for years and had nothing to show once they were not.
The fuel and the pizza are funny. The version of this story that is not funny is the one that surfaces five years later.
