Alex Iwobi Edited His Instagram, And Everyone Read A Transfer Request

Alex Iwobi removed Fulham references from his personal social media pages after the club's 3-2 defeat at Crystal Palace, and several team-mates posted their own frustration. Manager Alvaro Arbeloa was asked about it and answered by describing his training week.

"I think you learn more about a group after a defeat than after a win, and they have worked with a very positive attitude this week," he said.

The manager's actual position. Arbeloa said that a player who is not playing cannot be happy, that he expects that feeling, and that he wants it shown in training rather than anywhere else. That is a coach describing a normal squad, not managing a crisis, and it is the only first-hand account on the record.

Why this story travels so fast in Nigeria

Because Super Eagles squad selection is followed here more closely than club form is, and because a player's happiness at his club gets treated as a leading indicator of what he will give the national team.
