AC Milan beat Lecce 1-0 to return to winning ways under Ruben Amorim, with Christian Pulisic scoring. Samuel Chukwueze was involved again and was denied by the Lecce goalkeeper Wladimiro Falcone.

The change from a year ago
Last season Chukwueze was on loan at Fulham because he could not get on the pitch at Milan. This season he is in the starting eleven in consecutive league games and the club is briefing about extending him by five years. That is not a small correction. It is a player getting a second chance at the same club, which almost never happens.
Most players who are loaned out do not come back. The ones who do come back and start are worth paying attention to.
What it means this week
Nigeria goes into two qualifiers without Osimhen. A winger playing weekly in Serie A, in a team winning matches, is exactly the profile Eric Chelle needs to build around while his main striker recovers.
