Princess Shyngle Blasts Planned African American Protest Against African Businesses in the U.S.

Actress and media personality Princess Shyngle has taken a bold stand against a controversial protest reportedly being planned by a group of African Americans aiming to boycott African-owned businesses in the United States on August 1, 2025.

Taking to her Instagram Story, the outspoken Gambian-born actress expressed strong disapproval, calling the idea divisive and counterproductive. Her post read:

“So, African Americans are starting a protest August 1st to boycott all African businesses in America. Why wait till August 1st though? Y’all can start now.”

Her tone, though sarcastic, underscores a deeper frustration with what she and many others view as a misguided attempt to create tension within the global Black community.

💬 Opinion: A Protest That Misses the Bigger Picture

While tension and misunderstandings between African Americans and African immigrants in the U.S. are not new, organizing a protest to boycott Black-owned businesses—specifically those run by Africans—feels not just divisive, but destructive.

Instead of promoting dialogue, cultural understanding, or solidarity, such a move threatens to deepen economic and social fractures at a time when unity is desperately needed.

Both communities have historically faced systemic racism, economic exclusion, and misrepresentation. The answer cannot be intra-racial protests, but rather mutual education, open forums, and collaboration.

📢 What Should Be Encouraged:

  • Dialogue and education between African Americans and Africans to address cultural rifts.

  • Support for Black-owned businesses, regardless of nationality.

  • Joint advocacy for policies that benefit all Black communities.
