Ini Edo Sacrifices Holiday for Film Project, Salutes Nollywood Titans

Nollywood star Ini Edo has revealed that she gave up her holiday to work tirelessly on her latest project, A Very Dirty December, sharing her reflections in an Instagram post.

The actress admitted that she had taken on an ambitious challenge, acknowledging her overzealous approach. “I knew it was kinda over ambitious of me to think I could run this whole December race, but my coconut head, I’ve always known myself to follow my gut and do as I please,” she wrote.

Edo expressed pride in her team—including Yfalaye, Becca Ashang, Edojnr, Eucharia Anunobi, IK Ogbonna, Unusual Phyna, and Chief Femibranch—for their unwavering commitment. “So yeah, I sacrificed my holiday to achieve my ambition. We came, we pushed, made our mark, and learnt our lessons,” she added.

Beyond her own project, Edo took time to congratulate fellow industry heavyweights Funke Akindele and Toyin Abraham for their record-breaking successes, praising their commitment, strategy, and marketing acumen. She acknowledged their achievements as setting a new standard for Nollywood.
“The level of commitment, strategising, marketing, and playing the game generally is on a whole different level,” Edo noted.

Opinion: Ambition, Sacrifice, and Inspiration

Ini Edo’s post highlights a universal truth for creatives: success rarely comes without sacrifice. Her willingness to give up personal time for her craft reflects a dedication that many aspiring actors and filmmakers can draw inspiration from.

Equally important is her recognition of peers. By celebrating Funke Akindele and Toyin Abraham, Edo reminds the industry that admiration and healthy competition can coexist, motivating everyone to raise their standards.

In a fast-evolving Nollywood, Edo’s message resonates beyond cinema—it’s a call to ambition, resilience, and mutual respect. The holiday she gave up may be temporary, but the lessons learned and milestones achieved will leave a lasting mark on her career and the industry at large.

Her journey is a reminder that in Nollywood, as in life, hard work, collaboration, and courage to push boundaries are what separate the good from the extraordinary.
